Compressing Photos = Faster Uploads
JobSiteVisitor.com does not save the original photo file, during the upload process we compress the photos to maximize the site’s performance. Because of this save yourself some time during the upload process by compressing you photos to 1024×768. Why don’t we save the original file? Because lets face it most construction progress photos are not being printed to hang on the wall. If you do want to make a large print from one of your progress photos make sure you use the original file. The file that you pull off JobSiteVisitor.com will not give you the results you want.
I suggest using some type of photo management software to compress your photos. I like Microsoft Office Picture Manager, it’s easy to use and comes with Microsoft Office which is on most computers. I’ve also started to use Google’s Picassa, it’s FREE to Download and has some great features along with the basic photo editing you would expect.
With Office Picture Manager I suggest compressing the photos to the Document Size which is 1024×768. Remember to make a copy of your images and then compress them. As I’ve learned the hard way its not a good idea to compress the original image. To learn how to compress photos using Microsoft Office Picture Manager visit our post on Compressing Images.
